Description: This study seeks to replicate Study 2 from "Dishonest Deed, Clear Conscience: When Cheating Leads to Moral Disengagement and Motivated Forgetting" (2011) by Lisa Shu, Francesca Gino, and Max Bazerman. The original studied the impact of one's behavior, honest or dishonest, on levels of moral disengagement. Specifically, it aimed to determine whether moral leniency follows dishonest behavior and whether moral stringency follows honest behavior, thereby explaining the observed divergence in moral disengagement from Study 1. Employing a methodology akin to the initial study, our replication effort will examine the reliability of Shu, Gino, and Bazerman (2011)’s findings and further analyze the dynamics between ethical actions and moral disengagement.
