Description: Experiencing natural disasters can have serious consequences for mental health. As the number and frequency of extreme weather events are likely to increase, there is a great need for prevention of mental disorders following natural disasters. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to summarize and systematize the state of the literature on this topic. The effectiveness of preventive psychological/psychosocial interventions on the development of mental disorders among survivors of natural disasters and/or first responders (compared to control conditions) will be assessed. The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis will contribute to a broader picture of post-disaster mental health and could provide guidance for future research and practice in the prevention of mental disorders after natural disasters.
