In this project, we investigate whether the shape of the SNARC effect (Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes; Dehaene et al., 1993; faster responses to small/large numbers with the left/right, respectively) depends on the task. In judgments of numbers from 1 to 9 (excluding 5), we hypothesize it to be **categorical in magnitude classification** (MC; smaller or larger than 5) and **continuous in parity judgment** (PJ; judging odd vs. even, where magnitude is irrelevant).
