Description: The current longitudinal study will examine the (potential) facilitating role of infant-directed speech (IDS) on Norwegian infants’ lexical development from 9 to 18 months of age. IDS, and adult-directed speech (ADS), were recorded in the lab by the infants’ main caregiver at five time points (infants age: 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 months, link to pre-print at https://osf.io/mbuzs/). At 9, 12, 15 and 18 months, as an index of word comprehension, infants performed an intermodal preferential looking (IPL) eye-tracking task. In addition, at the corresponding time points, parents reported their infants’ receptive and expressive vocabulary size on the CDI–Words and Gestures form (see section ‘Study Design’).
