Wiki Version:
![](https://osf.io/7ay2u/download) TERRIER is a machine-coded political event dataset covering 1979 to 2015. Event data records the interactions between political actors that are reported in news text. The TERRIER dataset uses the [CAMEO ontology](http://eventdata.parusanalytics.com/data.dir/cameo.html) to represent the identities of the actors and the types of actions involved in each event. The historical text corpus used to code TERRIER is the largest used for an event data project yet. It includes the complete archives of all major US and international newspapers and wire services going back to the 1970s. TERRIER is funding by NSF Award Number SBE-SMA-1539302, as were the open source tools used to produce it. Those tools are available on [Github](https://github.com/openeventdata/).
