Description: The project "COVID-19, social isolation, and psychological distress: Experiences of psychological distress in basic education teachers acting remotely" aims to analyze the relationship between practices remote teaching and psychological distress in teachers from the Brazilian population which are (or are not) isolated in their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and teaching remotely. We aim to analyze whether the practice of remote pedagogical work produces feelings of distress, how gender interacts with these practices, and how reproductive work ("housework") and previous experience with remote work mediate these effects. We also aim to understand the emic meanings attributed to remote pedagogical work by teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data collection will be made entirely online, and the project will entail three phases: collection of quantitative data, a specialist panel, and a qualitative free writing task.
