Description: The Learning Ratio (LR) is a novel learning slope score that has been developed to reduce the inherent competition between the first trial and subsequent trials in traditional learning slopes. It is calculated by the following equation, created by Spencer et al. (2020): (Final Trial performance – Trial One performance)/(Total Points Available For a Trial – Trial One performance). Recent findings suggest that LR is sensitive to AD pathology along the AD continuum – more so than the traditional learning calculations that employ raw changes across trials. Our aim for developing normative data for LR is to enhance its utility as a clinical tool for examining learning slopes in older adults administered the HVLT-R and/or BVMT-R. The normative calculator presented here provides age- and education- corrections for the LR metric derived from the HVLT-R, BVMT-R, and an Aggregate of the two measures for individuals aged 65 and greater. To access this calculator, click on the folder for "Excel Calculator" in the bottom left of the screen, under the "Files" header. Next click on the excel document. After being taken to the calculator screen, select "Download" in the top right corner of the screen. To use this calculator, enter the patient's/participant's LR score for the HVLT-R, BVMT-R, and/or Aggregated Composite of the two measures. Next provide the age and education for the patient/participant, and the T score for this LR performance will be provided in the far right column.
