Description: We propose that research contrasting social and non-social reward often neglects other dimensions which can conflate with sociality. We discuss why this is problematic in experimental settings. Altogether, these methodological considerations aim to inform and improve future experimental designs in research utilising rewarding stimuli, especially in the social domain.
