This paper offers a description of two nominalization processes in Hawaiian, with an explanation of their differences in terms of attachment height within a DM framework. I also compare nominalization to other valency related morphology such as passives and causatives.
I have uploaded slides in PDF format. You can also find a video in which I go through the slides in standard 'conference talk' style. The video is in mp4 format (I have an issue sorting out Zoom in the first minute, but then it's mostly smooth sailing - please bear with me!).
Comments are welcome! (david.medeiros at csun.edu or on this page)
I will be available via Zoom to talk about this project at the following times (all CEST):
(Please note that these times differ somewhat from what was posted earlier - specifically I am available until 18:25, not 18:45.)
April 9 17:30-18:25: https://csun.zoom.us/j/115672453
April 14 17:30-18:25: https://csun.zoom.us/j/91480517564
To keep the zoom sessions as secure as possible, I will post links right before the availability and also enable the 'waiting room' feature.
