Wiki Version:
This page contains a collective view of our project, breaking down the work into components of Materials, Ethics approval, Procedure video and Data and Results and Presentation. In these four components is the further explanation and work of our research team in designing and executing a replication of Forest and Woods 2012 study. Due to an error is setting up registration, data collection was started before a completed registrar. However all the same data processes were still followed as listed in our project page. If any additional questions arise about the purpose of our work Jessica Yanes is available at jessicayanes23@gmail.com and for any questions about the OSF web page contact Sydney Simpson at sydneyjo2014@gmail.com **Abstract** A replication will be conducted on Forest and Woods 2012 study on self-esteem effecting self-disclosure rates on Facebook. Tested in Forest and Woods original work are the categories of perceived self-esteem, perceived safety, opportunity to express and connect on Facebook, and perceived benefits of using Facebook rather than in person. In the replication these five things will be tested along with an additional variable of gender. Forest and Wood found a negative relationship between self-disclosure and self-esteem in the original study; a replication with the additional variable of gender will seek to find a stronger relationship between self-disclosure on Facebook and gender differences in communication. **Methods ** we will be using the two surveys - Rosenburg(1965) testing self-esteem - Forest and Wood(2012) testing perception of Facebook.
