Wiki Version:
Four studies explore beliefs that prevent recovery from rejection. Entity theories of personality (i.e., personality cannot be changed) prompted people to tie experiences of rejection to their core self-definitions and caused rejection’s impact to linger. We explore this in both people’s reflections on past rejections and imagined novel rejection experiences.
