Description: In this study we examined the impact of contextual threat on spatial navigation in a virtual urban environment. When retracing the route, individuals with higher anxiety scores benefited from contextual threat, whereas individuals with lower anxiety scores performed worse when they perceived a threat. This is an example of the often under-considered advantage of trait anxious.
