Wiki Version:

The materials, methods, data, and analyses are available in public GitHub repositories linked through this project. A description of each of the components of this research is as follows:

Telephone app. The primary method used in this research consisting of the code used to create a web app for collecting vocal imitations, as well as additional experiments conducted using the imitations as materials, such as transcriptions of imitations and accuracy in matching imitations to seed sounds.

Category learning experiment. Materials for conducting the category learning experiment that tasked participants with learning novel labels (transcriptions of vocal imitations) for categories of environmental sounds.

Measuring acoustic similarity. Materials and methods for conducting analyses of acoustic similarity of the imitations. This repo includes methods for collecting behavioral measures (perceptions of acoustic similarity) as well as automated measures.

Data. Links to and instructions for all data sets, many of which can be installed as an R package.

Analyses. Contains a dynamic document used to submit this research as a manuscript to print journals.
