Description: Here you find the raw data, list of questions and an animation demo of the Pulfrich Solidity Illusion study by Dawei Bai & Brent Strickland. This animation is a demonstration of the lab experiment. In the lab experiment, participants spontaneously reported seeing the Pulfrich Solidity Illusion: The pendulum appears to pass through the horizontal bar while moving in an ellipse in depth. The animation is meant to give a realistic idea of how our visual illusion was set up for in person showings, but is not meant to allow viewers to perceive the illusion itself (given constraints that emerge from the use of a computer screen over real world perception). Nevertheless, with the display ideally set up following the instructions, some people have reported being able to experience the illusion – although in a much less spontaneous manner than with the real-life display.
