Description: The increasing knowledge of ecosystem services (ES) has conducted to an overarching consensus on their importance and the urgent need for their conservation (Costanza et al., 2014). However, translating this knowledge into sound policies for the management of nature’s contribution to people remains a challenge (Díaz et al., 2018). Using a new and growing database recording ES policy documents, GlobalDES, we propose a global preliminary assessment of the extent of ES policies. Keywords: GlobalDES, ecosystem services, massive online open course, legal documents.
