Thursday 20 October 2021 #### **Class pre-reading:** Read the Cooke et al. 2020 paper "Contemporary authorship guidelines fail to recognize diverse contributions in conservation science research" #### **In-session activities:** 1. **Questions / Admin (5 min)** - Address questions 2. **Lecture - Dom Roche**  3. **Discussion (in breakout rooms with working groups)** - Are there downsides to having many authors on a paper? If no, why? If yes, what are they? - Do you think that formally listing non author collaborators as \'contributors\' on a paper makes sense - How can being listed as a co author or contributor benefit non academic collaborators? - Should authorship guidelines/requirements differ between applied and fundamental fields of science?   **REMINDER: there will be no classes next week due to a mid-semester break at UdeM** #### ** Supporting materials:**
