Wiki Version:
These two experiments address a number of topics relevant to understanding decision making and valuation: 1) Are there differences in the value-modulatory effects of delay, physical effort, and cognitive effort when they are both: A) immediately experienced (rather than post-experiment); and B) take the same amount of time to complete? 2) In foraging environments, is the pattern of acceptances when individuals experience only one cost type (i.e. between subject design) the same as when they face every type in an experimental session (i.e. within subject)? Collectively, these goals should not only help us understand what's different about these three forms of cost, but also the effects of between-subject and within-subject experimental designs when asking these types of questions. This project is organized into two pre-registrations, one for each experiment mentioned above.
