Description: The therapeutic alliance is the strength of the relationship between a therapist and a client. It is evident that these persons may experience disagreements and disputes. However, what is our understanding about these disputes concerning therapeutic disparities between ages? A review of existing studies was conducted to assess the therapeutic alliance’s stability when placed in an environment between two individuals with a large age margin. This examination yielded a conclusion based on the attitudes Generation X (Gen X) and Generation Z (Gen Z) exhibit towards each other, and the potential implications for the alliance. According to the initial research, generational differences within patient-therapist interaction can hurt the therapeutic relationship and overall treatment efficacy. To address this issue, Relational Cultural Therapy (RCT) is suggested as a method intended to bridge the generational gap between Gen X and Gen Z. Further study examining how age factors impact the therapeutic alliance is required to arrive at a definite conclusion for the effectiveness of RCT in mitigating generational discrepancies.
