Description: Embodied cognition theories challenge the conventional view of numbers as abstract symbols, suggesting a close connection between numerical processing and both sensory and motor experiences. Additionally, sensory processing, thoughts or actions are modulated by attentional shifts/control. The aim of the current study was to investigate the relationship between motor processing and numerical cognition, focusing on the influence of learned motor associations in individuals who start counting either on their left or right hand. We examined how covert attention to motor associations influences neural responses during passive viewing of symbolic numbers while recording brain event-related potentials (ERP).
