Dorsal view of a hawksbill sea turtle carapace, with the ultimate posterior marginal scute removed. When this tissue is sectioned and polished, it reveals sequential layers of growth. In this study we sample those growth layers, describe their content with stable isotope analysis, and use this to understand development, habitat shifts, and diagnostic differences between population regions.
