Category: Analysis

Description: Participants will include Portuguese adolescents diagnosed with social anxiety disorder and North American young adults reporting high social anxiety symptoms assessed via the Screen for Adult Anxiety Related Disorders (SCAARD). We estimate a sample of about 20 adolescent and young adult participants. All will participate in an individual online interview addressing how communication with others was established during confinement periods, how that communication experience was subjectively felt, whether confinement brought about changes in ones’ self-image and image of the self in the eyes of others, how current social events are managed in comparison with the pre-confinement period, and how current safety measures are impacting ones’ social contacts. Data will be analyzed using an inductive approach to thematic analyses as proposed by Braun & Clarke (2006).
