Description: Introduction: Worldwide changes in demographic and epidemiological profiles and the expansion of home care services have required a family member, known as a family caregiver, to take responsibility when a family member becomes dependent on care at home. Conceptualizing a family caregiver has proved relevant to avoid undue transfers of technologies and therapeutic activities. It is also a relevant concept for qualifying communication between those involved in home care; providing a basis for preparation and support for this family member, preventing illnesses related to the burden and strain of the role of caregiver, and preventing them from becoming marginalized or socially ignored. Objective: To map the concepts of family caregiver in the literature in the context of Home Care worldwide. Inclusion criteria: Full texts will be included, regardless of language and without a time frame, that address the review question expressed through the mnemonic PCC, in which the participants, concept, and context are: (P) family caregiver; (C) family caregiver at home; (C) worldwide home care. Methods: Scoping review conducted according to the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology, following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews protocol. The following databases will be used: Virtual Health Library, Cochrane, MEDLINE/ PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. For gray literature, Google Scholar, Digital Libraries, Thesis/Dissertation Portals, and official association websites will be considered. The texts will be selected using Rayyan© software by two reviewers, but if there is a disagreement between them, a third reviewer will be called in. The protocol will be registered in the Open Science Framework at the end.
