Course Description: This course is planned as a month of exploration into psychological realms with a main focus on research methods with a side order of statistics. We will use the Emerging Adulthood Measured at Multiple Institutions (EAMMi2) project to identify and address meaningful and aspiring research questions. The EAMMi2 was an open-invitation, open science project where researchers at 32 different locations administered a survey included almost 20 different scales to over 4000 respondents (prerequisite: Psyc101). Students will compare themselves to the norms established in this large sample. This process of personality profile self-assessment will enable students to explore many different psychological phenomena and provide insight into our own experiences. Students will complete individual and group projects tailored to their prior academic experience. Curious students will delve deeply into personality and social psychology while engaging in self-reflection. Motivated students will find research opportunities that could be presented at conferences or in journal submissions. New students will get a change to find out if psychology is a potential major. Upper-division students will be invited to develop their professional skills.
