Description: . This project contains coded data from speakers who produced 4 narratives in an interleaved task designed to manipulate cognitive load. The primary narrative task was disrupted at regular intervals by either a serial recall task or a control task. The interleaved design resulted in narratives that were elicited in bouts of speaking. Speech acoustics and breathing were recorded. The data were used to investigate the effects of cognitive load on topic realization (Whisler et al., 2025) and on speech breathing (Redford et al., submitted). Elicitation materials can be found in the "Materials" folder under "Files." Data and analyses for each study can be found in their respective folders ("Topic Realization" and "Speech Breathing") under "Files." REFERENCE Whisler, D., Clement, N. & Redford, M.A. 2025. Topic realization in narratives elicited under cognitive load. Discourse Processes. (in press). Manuscript DOI: 10.1080/0163853X.2025.2476888 .
