Description: A federal court administered a program of mandatory, early, half-day mediation of prisoner civil rights cases. We randomized which cases received an order to mediated versus which received an order encouraging the parties to engage in settlement negotiations. Outcomes included party satisfaction, attorney hours, and measures of court burden.
